Tropical Mathematics in Manchester

We are a group of researchers in Manchester interested in tropical/max-plus mathematics and its applications. Our research spans pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and application areas in the natural sciences and engineering disciplines.

The main focus of pure research is the theory of modules over the tropical semiring, and the abstract algebraic (semigroup-theoretic and group-theoretic) structure of tropical matrices under multiplication. Applied research has so far encompassed applications in biochemistry and microprocessor design, the development of methods for understanding stochastic max-plus systems, and applications of tropical methods in numerical linear algebra.
