The University of Oxford
Oxford has a wealth of internationally leading high performance applications and expertise in numerical analysis and mathematical modelling.
Anne Trefethen leads the Oxford e-Research Centre (OeRC), which works with research units across the University to enable the use and development of innovative computational and information technology in multidisciplinary collaborations. The Computational Biology Group (Burrage, Gavahan, Kay, Rodriguez, Smith) in the Computing Laboratory engages in research at the interface between computer science, mathematics and the biomedical sciences, focusing on applying computer science and mathematical techniques to clinically and biologically pressing problems.
- Giles is pioneering the use of HPC in computational finance.
- Dellar is an expert on Lattice-Boltzmann methods and has developed software widely used on HPC systems.
- Wathen is an expert on iterative methods whose recent work on block preconditioners for saddle-point systems has impacted on a number of application areas.
