MIMS organizes core and interdisciplinary research activities in mathematics and is the research arm of the School of Mathematics in the University of Manchester.   • Professor Sven Hammarling has been named a 2012 SIAM Fellow "for his contributions to numerical linear algebra, including the LAPACK (Linear Algebra PACKage) project".
  • Professor Toby Stafford has been awarded a Clay Mathematics Institute Senior Scholarship, 2012-2013.
  • Dr Françoise Tisseur has won the 2011/12 Adams Prize.
  • Professor Nick Higham has been re-elected as Vice President at Large of SIAM, 2012-2013.
