- Professor Nick Higham has been re-elected as Vice President at Large of SIAM, 2012-2013

- Professor Jack Dongarra has been awarded the 2011 IEEE Charles Babbage Award in recognition of his pioneering work in numerical algorithms and linear algebra libraries for parallel computing.
